IC Information: Name: RED Scout.
Fandom: Team Fortress 2.
Timeline: During Mann Versus Machine.
Age: Roughly 20-ish? It's never stated.
Appearance: His TF2 Wiki picture. The Scout is a fairly short man, tied with the Engineer as the shortest member of the team. His eyes are blue and his brown hair is cut short. He is completely lacking in facial hair. He wears a gray baseball cap, and an orange headset covers his right ear. A distinctively red jersey declares his team allegiance, and a brown messenger bag is slung over his back. Bandages are wrapped around both his hands to protect A pair of blank dogtags dangle around his neck. His gray pants go down to just past his knees, and white socks go up to where the pants cut off. A pair of gray runner's shoes, each one with a decorative pair of white stripes, handle footwear.
Abilities: Scout is a very fast runner, and has the stamina to match. He's good with a shotgun and pistol, and has a mean swing with a baseball bat. Finally, in an act that defies physics, he can jump once while already airborne. On the downside, he's one of the most fragile members of the team, which doesn't bode well for his lifespan as a front-line fighter.
Personality: Scout is a fast-talking smartass with too much to say and not enough brains to realize when to say it. He's always eager for a fight, even when it's not in his best interests, and his attitude is usually enough to provoke someone into obliging him. He's very cocky, and has a tendency to take on way more than he can handle.
This attitude of his carries over to the battlefield, where he's a suicidally brave fighter. He'll take on the entire enemy team on his own if the situation calls for it, even if the likely result would be him getting shredded into little pieces. Fortunately, everyone respawns, so he's free to keep on doing it.
When off the job Scout can be a pretty nice guy, if in a rather warped fashion. He's the kind of person who thinks trophy teeth from people he's beaten up make for great presents for preteen trick-or-treaters, to use a canon moment as an example.
Scout thinks of himself as quite the ladies man. In practice, he's hilariously bad when it comes to the opposite sex. He'll take almost any opportunity to try and impress, but given his idea of a smooth come-on, his attempts mainly inspire confusion.
Scout has a deep love of baseball, although the way he usually expresses it are through pithy one-liners after he's just beaten someone to death with his bat.
Scout really, really loves his mother, and the rest of his family to a lesser extent. Saying anything bad about them and he'll snipe right back. Outright threatening them, on the other hand, and suddenly he's a mean ball of rage and violence who won't stop until he's beaten the offender's skull into paste.
Above everything else, though, Scout simply does
not shut up. If someone gets him going, he'll filibuster for hours and hours on end with no signs of stopping. By that point, the only thing that'll get him to stop is to try and get him to pester someone else.
History: The youngest of eight boys from the south side of Boston, the Scout learned early how to problem solve with his fists. With seven older brothers on his side, fights tended to end before the runt of the litter could maneuver into punching distance, so the Scout trained himself to run. He ran everywhere, all the time, until he could beat his pack of mad dog siblings to the fray.
One might think Scout would have grown out of rampant thuggery, but the Bostonite never lost his love for violence. In fact, he got to be so good at hurting people that he caught the attention of RED, and he signed up in a heartbeat after being offered a very lucrative contract in return for his services as a mercenary.
After a few years of action, both Mann brothers were killed by their long-lost third sibling Gray. This is important because the two brothers were the heads of both RED and BLU, and their deaths left both teams without a job. Fortunately, the two bands of mercenaries were immediately hired back on by Mann. Co. to fight Gray's robot army, thus giving them more things to shoot, bludgeon, cut, burn, and generally maim.
Roleplay Sample - Log: Everyone else was dead; it was up to him.
On one hand, Scout wouldn't ever back down from a fight. On the other, that was a freaking
huge group of robots bearing down on him. That big bot holding the bomb also looked really, really mean. He took a deep breath to psyche himself up and then he did what came naturally.
He charged forward, screaming, and firing his scattergun everywhere.
BLAM! BLAM! Each shot shredded machines like paper thanks to the shotgun's previous modifications.
BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! A dozen more.
BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! Scattergun's dry, no time to reload. Toss it away, pull out the bat, go to town.
"I! Hate! Robots!" He yelled, each word punctuated by another robot's head cracking. His assault was effective enough to annihilate the last remnant of the grunts.
That only left the giant robotic Soldier carrying the bomb, which was a bit of a problem.
"You and me, let's go!" He called out at the giant Soldier, and it turned its terrible gaze upon him. He ran at it, bat held high, and leapt forwards. For a glorious moment it seemed like he would actually make it.
Then he immediately exploded into tiny pieces after the giant fired a rocket straight into his face.
Well, he couldn't win 'em all.
Roleplay Sample - Journal: Wa-hey, I'm back! Didja miss me, fellas? Oh, who am I kiddin', 'course you did! Betcher all surprised to see me, but you oughta know by now I don't stay dead.
Granted, that robot army I ended up fighting back home tried damn hard to make it happen. Also, yeah, robot armies are a thing, apparently. There were
so many robots you would not believe me if I told ya, but there were like a million robots, which is a pretty big number! It was pretty fun, too! The killing all of them part, not the them trying to kill me part. That wasn't so great.
Also, they ran on money. There was so much money, you guys.
So much.
[He looks thoughtful for a moment.]
Don't suppose this place's been invaded by a robot army too, yeah? Just wondering.
This game includes horrible mental and physical torture of your character. After reading the rules/faq for clarification, how do you expect your character to handle this and continue to function? Scout's an overly-confident thug, but at the same time he doesn't even bat an eyelid about killing people for a living. He's killed so many people and
died in so many ways, that while he's not unfazable he's pretty close to it.
